Being one of the world’s top sand carvers nowadays, Ilya started as a student at the Art College in Moscow. After his graduation he worked for 7 years as a jewelry maker and goldsmith, and designed and created numerous pieces of jewelry. While doing this he started working with ice and competed in several ice sculpture events. Not only his passion for the arts, but also his expertise in working with different materials, made him quit his job as a jewelry maker and goldsmith, made him go back studying the art of sculpting at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute of Surikov. Since 2005 he is also well-known worldwide for creating magnificent pieces of sand art.
